The president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, said that the Aztec country will not allow any type of foreign intervention, in response to recent statements by the President of the United States, Donald Trump, about possible military actions in Mexican territory.

During the press conference, the president stated that Mexico maintains a cooperative security relationship with Washington and that there is no justification for external military operations. He stressed that national sovereignty is a non-negotiable principle, according to a press release from Telesur.

On the other hand, Sheinbaum reported on the progress of negotiations with the United States regarding compliance with the 1944 Water Treaty. He indicated that Mexico will meet its commitments without compromising the supply for human consumption or the volume allocated to domestic producers.

Bilateral tension increased after Trump threatened to apply a 5% rate if Mexico does not deliver the volumes of water that, according to Washington, are lacking in the current cycle. The warning sets the December 31 deadline for the release of 246.6 million cubic meters.
