The election day of the general elections in Ecuador ended with an estimated turnout of more than 83%, said the president of the National Electoral Council (CNE), Diana Atamaint, in her third report of the day.

Atamaint highlighted that the process went smoothly and projected a turnout of 83.38%, based on data collected half an hour before the polling stations closed.

He indicated that this percentage maintains the record of those who have exercised the vote in Ecuador, a country where suffrage is mandatory for Ecuadorians between 18 and 65 years of age, the national press reported.
