The Prevention and Risk Commission remains on alert in the state of Mérida in the face of the heavy rains of the last few hours in the Andean state, which have caused some incidents in different municipalities of the jurisdiction, without major damage.
The director of Civil Protection in the state, Luis Lobo Visoli, reported that more than 2,500 officials are deployed to deal with the contingencies that arise.
In the municipality of Ramos de Lora, there was strong flooding and an increase in the flow of water sources, but they maintain their safety margin. In addition, in the Campo Elías municipality, the Motatán River increased its flow without causing damage and is still at its safety limit, Lobo said.
He added that in the Libertador municipality there were two situations; the flood and increase of the flow of the La Pedregosa river, without causing damage, and on Urdaneta Avenue a house with a family of two people was affected. The Civil Protection team carried out rescue maneuvers to extract a woman and a man.
On the other hand, in the municipality of Cardenal Quintero, a slope slipped, causing damage to a vehicle, without injuring anyone, according to a press release from Venezolana de Televisión (VTV).
In this regard, Civil Protection made a conscious call to people to take safety measures during the 2025 rainy season, in order to avoid a negative balance.
