This Wednesday, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro Moros, warned that on the border with Colombia, Álvaro Uribe Vélez's narco-paramilitary groups want to send criminals and terrorists to Venezuela.
“Alert to mercenary groups that intend to enter the country, but through Táchira it will not be. They are celebrating the San Sebastian Fair, between defense and rumba we are in Revolution,” said the first National President, referring to the work during the beginning of the Bolivarian Shield Exercises 2025 in defense of peace and democracy.
“It will not be because of Táchira, nor will they be able to break into peaceful Venezuela,” he said.
The alarming increase in violence in the Colombian region of Catatumbo has brought the number of displaced people to about 32,000 as a result of clashes between the National Liberation Army (ELN) and a dissent from the former Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC).
