Announcement

Dear President Petro: Take care of the serious problems in Colombia that we solve those of Venezuela.

His Excellency Mr. President Gustavo Petro. I read with surprise his latest statement on a social network, in which he refers to people arrested in different criminal proceedings in our country.

Known and respected president with whom at one time I shared encounters and ideals of emancipation for our Great Homeland: Venezuela has been and continues to be threatened from Colombian territory by criminal narco-paramilitary groups that control a large part of the territory under its jurisdiction.

I must remind you that it was in Colombia that mercenaries hired by a nefarious foreign company were trained and from where they embarked on a bloodbath in our country. This happened in the eyes of the Colombian authorities and to this day there is not a single person prosecuted for these events.

The top leaders of Colombian narco-paramilitarism, Álvaro Uribe and Iván Duque, have even threatened Venezuela with foreign military intervention, in a public and notorious way, a fact before which you have kept silent.

In the weeks leading up to the inauguration of President Nicolás Maduro, dozens of mercenaries have been captured entering our territory from Colombia. Don't your country's security agencies know who enters and who leaves your geography?

For the sake of peace on the continent, you should verify that Colombian security agencies fulfill their duties and protect the border we share.

You celebrate the liberation of a person, as an exceptional event, apparently due to ignorance of the Venezuelan reality. Since the end of last year, more than 1,500 people arrested during the violent actions that followed the July 28 election have been released. This Public Prosecutor's Office continues to review these and other causes in order to provide legal benefits to those who are appropriate.

In a context of transnational and multifactorial aggression against Venezuela, which we have described as the ultimate test of a hybrid war against our country and its institutions, we have defended democracy, stability and internal peace in an exemplary way, with full respect for constitutional guarantees and human rights.

It is well known that within this unconventional war there is the participation of some non-governmental organizations, which receive funding from USAID, a context that you cannot, for the sake of being objective, ignore.

Dear President, I don't see the Head of State Nicolás Maduro Moros meddling in Colombia's internal affairs. We respond when from Colombia the enemies of Venezuela attack us viciously to trigger terrorist acts.

With all due respect I tell you, you must take care of Colombia, which has multiple and serious problems; here we deal with ours.

Do you think that by attacking Venezuela you will save yourself from the executioners who threaten our popular democracies? Don't you think that your speech is too similar to that of these characters who turned vast regions of Colombia into a mass grave? What do you gain by looking like those serial killers?

The peace of the continent needs a different approach from you, in your capacity as Head of Government.

The Venezuelan people and the Colombian people have been united by powerful ties since the time of independence. We have a shared culture and want to strengthen the binational relationship for mutual benefit. That is why we want a Colombia in peace, as we have achieved in a colossal way that there is peace in Venezuela.

May America be a land free of paramilitarism and paid lackeys who call for invasions of sister countries.
