The Public Ministry (MP) appointed prosecutors 38 and 74 with national competence to investigate the attempts to sabotage the electoral system registered this Sunday, July 28.

Through a statement, signed by the Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, it was warned that calls for violence and for ignorance of the official results may be framed in the crimes of: Public Instigation, Obstruction of Public Roads, Incitement to Hate, Resistance to Authority.

The text also called on the population not to allow themselves to be used in destabilizing agendas that seek to create chaos, unrest and suffering for the people.

The following is the full communiqué;

Despite the massive mobilization and forceful demonstration of the Venezuelan people in the election of this July 28, the fascist wing of the opposition insists, once again, on ignoring the results and singing fraud.

True to its tradition, just as they did in 2006, 2008, 2017, 2018, the right wing once again assumes a position of ignoring the popular will and the work of the referee.

It is important to note that, since they know before that they are defeated, that they do not have popular support, they begin to sing fraud even though the electoral event has not taken place.

For example, in 2006, the opposition sang fraud three months before the election that favored the Supreme Commander, Hugo Chávez Frías, took place.

This time it was no different, as reported by the first vice-president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) Diosdado Cabello, the extreme right sang fraud months before the vote took place.

This faction, marked by its violence, did not participate in the audits of the electoral system, did not sign the agreement to recognize the results, and of course it sang fraud after the end of the voting process. Without presenting evidence, the puppet candidate, Inmundo González, and his manager claimed that they “won” and, once again, they called for “going out with the family to defend their victory”.

It is important to note that, contrary to what these anti-Venezuelan figures claim, the country's electoral system is transparent, automated and auditable.

We have also seen with concern the ignorance of the result by a radical sector with a long history of calling for insurrection.

In defense of peace, we inform that our institution will be monitoring any act that seeks to initiate an escalation of violence to tarnish the democratic party that we have experienced.

We warn that acts of violence and calls to ignore the official results can be framed in the crimes of:

  • Public incitement (art. 285 of the Criminal Code). With a sentence of 3 to 6 years in prison.
  • Obstruction of public roads (art. 357, first part of the Criminal Code). With a sentence of 6 to 10 years in prison.
  • Incitement to hate (art. 20 of the Special Act against Hatred). With a penalty of 10 to 20 years.

Resistance to authority (art. 218 Criminal Code). With a sentence of 1 month to 2 years in prison.

After this historic day, the country must move towards peaceful development, reconciliation and the search for consensus that will allow us to overcome the serious consequences of the aggression that our country has been suffering in the form of unilateral coercive measures and asset theft.

We call on the population not to allow themselves to be used in destabilizing agendas that respond to petty interests that are alien to the national interest, that seek the chaos, unrest and suffering of the majority of our people.

We congratulate citizen President Nicolás Maduro Moros for his triumph, Plan República for his impeccable work and the National Electoral Council for organizing and executing exemplary elections.

Caracas, July 29, 2024.
