Putin calls Western actions against Russian financial institutions hostile

The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, described as hostile the actions of Western elites against his country's financial institutions and payment systems.

“Several Western elites took absolutely hostile measures against Russian financial institutions and payment systems,” Putin denounced during a government meeting on export development.

The Eurasian president stressed that it has become more difficult to receive payment for export supplies and pay for imported goods, however, he added that Russia has managed to “solve this problem to a certain extent”.

According to what was published by the Sputnik web portal, he indicated that Russia, together with its foreign partners, plans to make more extensive use of national currencies in foreign trade and to make payments through clearing systems.

“Obviously, solving these problems takes time, since our main trading partners are tightly integrated into the current global financial system,” he said.
