Putin: Russia is open for dialogue with the US

Russia is open to dialogue with the new US administration about the conflict in Ukraine, said the president of the Eurasian nation, Vladimir Putin.

In this regard, the Russian leader welcomed Trump's statements about his interest in re-establishing contacts with Russia.

In addition, Putin congratulated Trump on his inauguration that will take place on January 20.

The Russian president indicated the importance of eliminating the root causes of the crisis of the Ukrainian conflict, according to a note from the RT agency.

“As for the resolution of the situation itself, I want to stress once again that its objective should not be a brief truce, a kind of rest for the regrouping of forces and rearmament for the subsequent continuation of the conflict, but rather a long-term peace based on respect for the legitimate interests of all people, of all the peoples living in the region,” Putin said during a meeting with the country's Security Council.
