The Minister of Agriculture and Livestock of Ecuador, Danilo Palacios, reported that the winter rains that occurred in recent weeks leave losses estimated at two million dollars, with a significant impact on rice cultivation.

“There is a total loss of two million dollars in crops. Rice crops, on the coast, are among the most affected,” Palacios confirmed in an interview with the local channel Teleamazonas.

Faced with this situation, the minister indicated that the Government seeks to implement prevention strategies, such as planting only in the highlands, where the chances of flooding are lower.
