The Book Club “The Ship of Books” reopened its doors in Maracay to
invite young people to embark on the world of reading and critical thinking.
On this occasion,
the spaces of the Librería del Sur Maracay welcomed students from the Experimental Technical
School of Visual Arts “Rafael Monasterios” and the Technical
School of Musical Arts “Federico Villena”, who toured a
wide variety of titles that gave rise to the exchange of ideas and collective debate.
In this regard,
the club's coordinator, Ysbel Mejías, highlighted the enthusiasm generated by the
continuity of this cultural project and the impact it has on the
comprehensive training of the participants.
“We are very
happy to resume this project, which generates so much enthusiasm among our
young people. Seeing students from artistic disciplines such as visual and
musical disciplines immerse themselves in literature reaffirms the transversal power of
books,” he said.
This book club
, which has managed to consolidate itself as a space for cultural encounter,
offers participants the opportunity to learn about and analyze recent works
included in the catalog of the Librería del Sur, in addition to encouraging dialogue,
imagination and reflection.
In addition,
within the framework of these activities, young people are also part of the
“25 by 25” Reading Plan, aimed at people between 15 and 30 years old, an initiative
promoted by the Government of Mexico together with the Fund for Economic Culture, Monte
Ávila Latin American Editors and the National Book Center (CENAL),
aimed at strengthening the habit of reading and reaching out to Latin American authors.
