At the headquarters of the Dr.
Leonardo Ruiz Pineda Public Library in the city of San Cristóbal, Táchira, the 20th
edition of the International Book Fair of Venezuela (FILVEN) was inaugurated, at which 35 exhibitors
are present with a varied editorial offer.
According to information from Venezolana de
Televisión, the opening event was accompanied by the governor of Táchira,
Freddy Bernal, who invited people from Tachira and the general public,
especially young people, to attend FILVEN and at the same time enjoy the Dr. Leonardo Ruiz Pineda Public Library.
For his part, Minister of Popular Power
for Culture, Ernesto Villegas Poljak, greeted those present through a
video shared by the State Cabinet of Culture of Táchira, in which
he thanked all those who have made this chapter of FILVEN possible.
“FILVEN is a fundamental legacy of Commander Hugo Chávez's cultural
policy, which has been maintained over time by the
President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro.
We recently celebrated 20 years in the ministry, wisely created by Commander Chávez, and there is no doubt
that one of its flagship vessels is the FILVEN,” he added.
In addition, he urged in his message to remain united
in the defense of the cultural rights of the community, stating that “the fair has
been held annually in Caracas, fulfilling its mission, and
this year it is being held in Táchira, a place with a rich literary and artistic tradition”.
It is important to note that during FILVEN, attendees will be able to enjoy book presentations, talks, workshops and activities in the children's pavilion, as well as artistic and cultural events, under the motto Reading meets us again.
