Representatives of the OCHA and Minister of Culture confirmed organization in the temporary camp of La Guaira

After the impact of the two earthquakes that occurred on June 24, the inhabitants of La Guaira have demonstrated a great capacity for response, organization and resilience. In the Carlos Fiol Transitional Camp, located in Marapa, Catia La Mar, solidarity has become the main bridge for recovery and mutual support.

The organization, equipment, equipment, care and companionship in this camp were confirmed by representatives of the Humanitarian Architecture group, managed by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) during a tour in which the Minister of Popular Power for Culture, Raúl Cazal, participated.

The representatives were pleasantly impressed by the organizational capacity of the entire community and the support of the national and regional government. They were able to verify that all the fundamental areas are being addressed. “To ensure that every family is treated with dignity in the midst of this emergency,” Cazal said.

The resident of the community, Ronald Salazar, recounted the moments of anguish and action after the earthquake: “We went looking for survivors and managed to rescue four people. It has been a very difficult situation, we have lost friends and neighbors, but we keep our faith high. Despite being affected, we have the strength left to continue helping those who need it most.”

During the day, the head of the Culture portfolio held a meeting with the governor of the state of La Guaira, José Alejandro Terán, and both analyzed the overview of the sectors most affected.
