The director of Transportation and Road Safety of Bolivia, Julio Larrea, reported that 14 people died in a traffic accident on the highway that connects the department of Oruro and Potosí, in the southeastern highlands of the country.

The incident occurred this Friday between a passenger minibus and a trailer. “The driver of the tractor-truck, who was transporting salt from Potosí, presumably fell asleep due to fatigue, losing control of the vehicle,” Larrea said.

In addition, he noted that the number of deaths could increase due to the delicate condition of the people who were injured.

For its part, the Traffic Accident and Road Patrol division is carrying out appropriate investigations to clarify the circumstances of the accident.
