This Tuesday, January 14, the president of the National
Assembly (AN), Jorge Rodríguez, reaffirmed that he is always willing
to dialogue for peace, as are all the political organizations
that gathered in the Federal Legislative Palace.
“I agree with an honest dialogue, with no hidden
daggers up their sleeve, I agree with a dialogue of people who truly
have a peaceful vocation, not of people who sit with you looking for some
kind of interest, but behind it they are promoting intolerance, fascism, violence or death, no.
Definitely, the dialogue has to be between democrats and
people who not only love, but who care for and defend peace,” said
Rodríguez.
In this regard, after the meeting in the AN with
representatives of political parties to draw up an electoral schedule for
this year 2025, he reaffirmed that 100% of the political organizations that
attended are committed to safeguarding the Constitution, peace and their
participation in the electoral events that are convened.
He emphasized that a dialogue cannot be held
with people who only believe in elections when they win or who accept the
National Electoral Council (CNE) if they win a seat or election. “No, not like that, from that
we are already cured in horror and health,” he said and condemned the sectors of
international extremism that insult Venezuela every time they feel like it.
Regarding the reform of the Electoral Laws, he mentioned
that it has been hard work and there is already a document of conclusions that
the vice-president of the Commission, Luis Eduardo Martínez, has.
In addition, he clarified that “the only Law that cannot be modified until six months before election day is the Organic Law on Electoral Processes, all other laws that have articles related to elections, nominations, electoral registration, and so on that are contemplated in the law on political parties can perfectly receive reforms by the AN, which we will seek to be derived from consensus with all political factors.”
