The Executive Vice President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, described the tariff measures imposed by the President of the United States, Donald Trump, as inconsistent.
In this regard, Rodríguez indicated that these tariff measures will trigger an unprecedented global trade war that will alter international economic relations and weaken the fundamental principles of the World Trade Organization (WTO).
“He is completely wrong (Trump), yesterday, as you know, in the United States, President Donald Trump said taima, a 90-day tariff truce because all the world's stock markets had collapsed rapidly, except the stock exchange in Caracas, Shanghai, China, and others,” he said during the presentation of the Economic Emergency Decree before the National Assembly (AN).
Rodríguez stressed that these actions are irrational and harmful, even for the United States itself, which faces a deep fiscal and external deficit.
He stressed that in Venezuela the criminal blockade against the people at each stage has been at the forefront of extremism calling for sanctions and invasions.
Rodríguez reiterated that the country does not recognize foreign jurisdictions and that companies are welcome to work in accordance with Venezuelan laws and international law. “Venezuela will continue to defend its sovereignty and economy against external aggressions,” he concluded.
