The Prime Minister of Dominica, Roosevelt Skerrit, indicated that, in the face of threats to Caribbean peace made by the government of the United States (USA), the countries that make up the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA) must strengthen unity and brotherhood.
“In the face of what is presented to us, this is a time when we must be more united, it is a time when we must show our solidarity with each one of us,” he said.
He argued that this threat to peace and stability in the region by imperialism, “is a test that history is presenting to us”, so he reiterated his call to continue advancing in the unity of the countries that make up ALBA.
“This is not the time to be afraid, this is the time when we must strengthen our ties of cooperation, of complementarity, of brotherhood,” he urged while recognizing the leadership of the president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, to guarantee peace.
“I want to congratulate the President of Venezuela for continuing the legacy of President (Hugo) Chávez and choosing the path of peace, of dialogue, of commitment to diplomacy at all levels,” he stressed and emphasized that from Dominica “we will continue to demand respect for the sovereignty and self-determination of Peoples.”
“We reiterate the need for this region to remain a
zone of peace,” he said.
