Venezuelan Olympic medalist Rubén Limardo placed seventh in the Grand Prix in Budapest, Hungary.

Limardo started the competition on the table of 64, being exempt from the other stages because he occupied the twelfth place in the world ranking in the men's sword category. In the first match, he beat Russian Aleksey Udovichen by a tight score of 11 to 10 touches. He then beat Frenchman Alexandre Bardenet with a score of 15 to 12 touches, according to the Ministry of Sport press.

Later, the two-time world sword runner-up advanced to the table of 16 where he faced the Swiss Theo Brochard, who he defeated 14-13.

In the round of 16, the Guyanese fought a great battle, but succumbed 11-8 to South Korea's Segeon Ma, bronze team medalist at Tokyo 2020.

This challenge helped Limardo prepare for the World Cup to be held in Morocco, from March 23 to 27.
