The Prime Minister of Russia, Mikhail Mishustin, arrived in China for a two-day official visit, in which he seeks to consolidate the comprehensive and strategic partnership that both nations maintain at the highest level.
The agenda for the first day takes place in the city of Hangzhou, where the representative of the Russian Government holds a meeting with the Chinese Prime Minister, Li Qiang, as part of the 30th ordinary meeting of the heads of government of both countries.
Later, on Tuesday, Mishustin will travel to Beijing to hold a high-level meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, a meeting that underlines the importance of the visit for political and economic coordination between the two countries.
The agenda focuses on strengthening partnership ties, with an emphasis on deepening commercial, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation. In addition, it seeks to give new impetus to joint projects in strategic sectors such as energy, industry, agriculture and education.
During his meeting with Li Qiang, the Russian Prime Minister emphasized the strength of the alliance. “Relations between Russia and China continue to develop dynamically in all areas, despite several obstacles and illegal Western sanctions,” Mishustin said.
In response, the Chinese premier assured that Beijing is prepared to strengthen bilateral cooperation in all areas, including security, to protect the interests of both peoples.
“The international situation is undergoing fundamental changes. The Chinese side is ready to strengthen strategic dialogue with our Russian colleagues, in the spirit of the important agreements reached by our leaders,” said Li Qiang.
Along these lines, the Chinese Prime Minister emphasized his country's willingness to “increase cooperation in all areas in order to more effectively protect our development and security interests.”
As a result of the talks, a joint communiqué and a series of bilateral documents are expected to be signed that will materialize the agreements reached.
