New hope was born in the fight against cancer after the Russian Federation announced the approval of EnteroMix, its first personalized vaccine against this disease, ready to be used in patients with this condition.
The drug was developed during three years of exhaustive preclinical studies, has demonstrated promising results and is now ready to be administered to patients, Telesur says.
To achieve the important breakthrough, multiple applications in human models were required to ensure their efficacy and safety; according to the director of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency, Veronika Skvortsova, the trials have demonstrated a significant increase in the survival rate, which positions EnteroMix as a promising tool in cancer treatment.
The official authorization was recently granted by the Russian Ministry of Health, after receiving the formal request from the FMBA. In this first stage, the vaccine will be applied to patients with colorectal cancer, where it is expected to reduce and slow tumor growth by 60 to 80 percent, depending on the nature of the tumor.
48 volunteers took part in the clinical trials. This was confirmed by the chief oncologist of the Ministry of Health, Andréi Kaprin, highlighting the scientific commitment behind the project.
