The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) was mired in corruption and was a key link in the system of interference in the internal affairs of other countries, as stated by the spokeswoman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Maria Zakharova.
“The agency should actually have been called 'Agency for Interference in State Internal Affairs' or 'Agency for Regime Change in Other Countries', or both of those things reflected in the name,” he said.
In this context, the Russian spokeswoman recalled that during 2012 “we asked for the agency to leave Russia and made detailed comments in that regard because its declared activities did not match its real actions and activities. But even our comments don't reflect the monstrosity of the image that is now being revealed to the world.”
In this regard, Zajárova stressed that for the last 20 years USAID has positioned itself as a symbol of the so-called soft power of American conviction, but now it turns out that the Americans themselves “don't just want to use the power of conviction against the agency.”
“Significant funds from U.S. taxpayers were not allocated to projects in the field of humanitarian aid, which numbered tens, hundreds of millions, but were allocated to initiatives not only of dubious value, such as tens of thousands of dollars for the staging of transsexual operas in Colombia or the transplantation of genital organs of people from other countries, but also, literally, to destabilize the socio-political situation in the focus states,” he stressed.
“We start from the fact that such a structure should not have been created from the beginning, neither from the point of view of the principles and norms of international communication, nor from the point of view of universal human ideas about morality and ethics,” added the Russian spokeswoman.
