The Minister of People's Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, held a meeting this Friday with the ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Sergey Mélik-Bagdasárov, from whom he received a renewed message of solidarity and support from the Government of President Vladimir Putin for the Venezuelan People and Government after the military assault of last January 3 by the United States (USA).

Through his Telegram channel, Gil highlighted that the Latin American nation is facing the kidnapping of the Constitutional President, Nicolás Maduro Moros and the First Lady, Cilia Flores, as a result of a military aggression that has been declared illegal and unjustified, which claimed the “lives of more than a hundred civilians and soldiers.”

The parties agreed on the importance of defending dialogue, diplomacy and respect for international norms and the sovereignty of peoples, as the only legitimate mechanisms to strengthen and promote constructive bilateral and international relations.

The Venezuelan diplomat reaffirmed that Venezuela and Russia continue to work together on the cooperation agenda between the two countries, with a view to deepening strategic ties and promoting initiatives that contribute to the well-being of their peoples.
