The Minister of Popular Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, praised this Tuesday the extensive exchange of products between the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the Russian Federation, despite the imposition of unilateral coercive measures of which both nations are victims by the United States and its allies.

“For more than 25 years now, just with the arrival of Commander President Hugo Chávez, we have established a functional, structural relationship, which today allows us to showcase Venezuelan products to the Russian Federation (...) Russia has also become a reliable supplier of complementary products for Venezuela,” said Gil from Casa Amarilla Antonio José de Sucre at a joint press conference with the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, who is visiting Caracas as part of their tour of Latin America.

During the meeting between the two diplomats, they reviewed cooperation around Russian wheat, stressing that it is a quality product with “the best price, its distribution”. In addition, “we have reviewed the issue of direct flights to Moscow and the possibility of these flights being extended to other cities in this country”.

In his statements, the Venezuelan Foreign Minister pointed out that during Lavrov's meeting with Vice President Delcy Rodríguez “ aspects have been discussed that have to do with strategic cooperation between the two countries, pharmaceutical cooperation, the supply of insulin for our diabetic patients, the installation -very soon- in Venezuela of an insulin factory, precisely with a transfer of 100% of the technology that comes from the Federation from Russia”.

On the other hand, they reviewed aerospace cooperation, the installation in Venezuela of a database for the satellite positioning system, through “a commercial system widely used in the world and that will have a base of operations in Venezuela,” said the Venezuelan diplomat.
