The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through its Embassy in France, has taken the necessary measures to clarify the situation surrounding the businessman of Russian origin Pavel Durov, announced this Saturday, August 24, the spokeswoman for the Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, commenting on the arrest of the co-founder of Telegram in Paris.

The spokeswoman said that the Russian Embassy immediately activated the corresponding tasks, “as stipulated” if information was received about the arrest by local authorities of a Russian citizen, the Russia Today portal reported.

Pavel Durov, was arrested this Saturday when he got off his private plane on the runway at Paris-Le Bourget airport, local media reports.

Durov, 39, accompanied by his bodyguard and a woman, was arrested upon arrival from Azerbaijan by the Air Transport Gendarmerie. He had a French search warrant issued by the Children's Office (OFMIN) of the French National Criminal Investigation Directorate based on a preliminary investigation.

French justice considers that Durov's lack of moderation and cooperation with law enforcement, as well as the tools offered by Telegram (disposable number, cryptography, etc.), make him an accomplice to drug trafficking, pedophilia crimes and fraud.

The argument that it uses cryptography is absurd, since all social networks use encryption, which is a security mechanism that allows a message to be modified so that its content is unreadable, except for its recipient.

Durov is scheduled to appear before an investigating judge this Saturday night, and on Sunday, August 25, he could be charged with a series of charges of terrorism, drug trafficking, complicity, fraud, money laundering, pedophile content, and others.
