The Russian delegation arrived this Tuesday in the Swiss city of Geneva to hold a new round of talks with the United States (USA) and Ukraine on the peaceful resolution of the conflict.
Negotiations are scheduled for February 17 and 18. Like the two previous rounds held this year, delegations from the United States, Russia and Ukraine participate in the negotiations, without European representatives, RT reports.
The Russian delegation, led by presidential advisor Vladimir Medinsky, arrived at the InterContinental hotel in Geneva, where the trilateral negotiations will take place. The Ukrainian delegation has also arrived at the meeting place.
“Today, the trilateral negotiations between Russia, the United States and Ukraine will continue in Geneva. Our delegation is there. I don't think we should expect any news today, because, as you know, the work is scheduled to continue tomorrow as well,” said Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov. At the same time, he added that the talks will take place behind closed doors for the press and there will be no announcements at the end of this day.
Previously, Peskov explained that the parties will cover “a wider range of issues, including the main ones that concern both the territories and everything else.”
In addition, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mikhail Galuzin, and the director of the General Intelligence Directorate of the Russian General Staff, Igor Kostiukov, will also participate in this two-day meeting in Geneva.
At this meeting, Kiev is represented by the head of Zelensky's Office, Kiril Budanov*; his deputy, Sergey Kislitsa; the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Andrei Gnatov; the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, Rustem Umerov, the Deputy Director of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Vadim Skibitsky, and the leader of the faction of the ruling Ukrainian People's Servant party, David David Arajamia.
On behalf of the United States, the special envoy of the White House, Steve Witkoff, and the son-in-law of the American president, Jared Kushner, will also speak separately in Geneva with the Iranian delegation on nuclear issues.
