In a statement recently published by the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) on French politics, he points out that President Emmanuel Macron is behind the preparation of neocolonial coups and covert operations in Africa as political revenge after the loss of influence in several former colonies.
The SVR highlighted the coup attempt of last January 3 in Burkina Faso, calling on France to support a plan to give way to President Ibrahim Traoré, who is considered by Moscow to be a bulwark of anti-colonialism and African sovereignty.
The document states that the overthrow of the Burkinabe leader would not only install pro-French forces in Ouagadougou, but would also represent a severe blow to pan-African movements.
France has recently been involved in destabilization campaigns in the Sahara-Sahel region, allegedly involving local armed groups and networks of intermediaries.
Likewise, Russian intelligence also mentions Mali, Madagascar, the Central African Republic and Niger as target countries of French strategies.
