The Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, recently spoke about the progress made in the discussion of the Amnesty Act, pointing out that, although it is natural that there are differences of opinion regarding its content, the process should not be sabotaged.

Saab emphasized that the regulations are in a crucial phase of popular consultations across the country, with the objective of integrating the opinion of the Venezuelan people into this legal instrument.

During his speech, the head of the Public Ministry warned of the existence of systematic attacks against the regulations under discussion and specified that these criticisms come from sectors that in previous years promoted violence in the national territory.

“These are sectors that, paradoxically, today are among the potential beneficiaries of the grace measures contemplated by law to achieve reconciliation,” he said.

To conclude, the Attorney General reiterated that the spirit of this law is to consolidate democratic coexistence and respect for institutions. He called on all political actors to participate constructively in the debate, leaving aside confrontational agendas to allow the Amnesty Law to fulfill its function as the articulating axis of peace and political stability in the Bolivarian nation.
