The Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek Williams Saab, reported that the families of the victims of deportation from the United States to prisons in El Salvador can go to the offices of the Public Ministry or to any of the days to exercise their right to defense, which the Venezuelan State has in the face of this new imperial aggression.

During a meeting with the media in Plaza Bolívar in the central part of Caracas, he stated that as Attorney General of the Republic, as president of the Republican Moral Council, “and as a Venezuelan human rights activist (I want) to reject that totally unilateral action, which, in itself, is a massive violation of human rights and international humanitarian law.”

He also urged the population and the families of the victims of deportation to go to the Public Ministry to denounce this cruel treatment suffered by hundreds of compatriots on Salvadoran soil.

Saab also said that Venezuelans sent to Salvadoran prisons had no legitimate defense. “They did not have access to making the allegations, in this case from the North American State, in order to effectively proceed with a lawyer to defend themselves,” he said.

With regard to the Foreign Enemies Act of 1798, it was considered by Saab to be one of lack of reason “that has neither feet nor head”.

He added that this law is only a political instrument of the Donald Trump administration. “I hope that the government of the United States will return to the negotiating table with Venezuela and that it does not intend to go back to the current civilization to the cave era,” he stressed.

On the other hand, he reported that over the course of 2025, the Public Ministry has received more than two million complaints through victim care offices and through the operations carried out by this State institution, which guarantees the rights of Venezuelans.
