The Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, highlighted the confession of former U.S. military officer Jordan Goudreau, who accused former Colombian presidents Iván Duque and Álvaro Uribe of financing Operation Gideon against Venezuela.
Goudreau has already said that Duque was the one who paid for it, that they were trained there in Colombian territory, not only was Cliver Alcalá, there were Green Berets, paramilitaries and Venezuelan deserters,” the authority of the Public Ministry asserted.
This plan, consisting of a command composed of deserters, paramilitaries and two American soldiers, would aim to disembark in Macuto, go to Caracas, commit assassinations and capture President Nicolás Maduro.
This failed commando operation resulted in the death of eight of the invaders by the Venezuelan Army and more than 40 participants sentenced to up to 30 years in prison.
