Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have announced that they will not authorize the use of their airspace or territory for a possible U.S. military operation against Iran.

The announcement has been confirmed by the Wall Street Journal and is based on a telephone conversation between Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.

Riyadh has reported that the prince has stated that the kingdom “will not allow its airspace or territory to be used for any military action against Iran”.

Regional sources say that both governments are trying to avoid an escalation that could lead to retaliation. “Riyadh and Abu Dhabi do not want to be trapped in a cycle of attacks and responses,” said an analyst consulted by the US newspaper.
