The president of the National Autonomous Cinematography Center (CNAC), Román Chamorro, highlighted that the Screen of Hope program has visited 12 temporary camps, where families affected by the earthquakes have been able to enjoy Venezuelan cinema.
“We go
there and try to ensure that our Venezuelans who have been affected by the double
earthquake can have opportunities for calm, for distraction, for tranquility,” Chamorro emphasized.
He also stressed that “what we are
doing, what we do in the camps, is public training;
we have to go to the camps, we are giving attention, but the
moment the cinema arrives there and the child sees a Venezuelan film and
identifies himself, that remains in his memory”.
He reaffirmed that the Screen of Hope program seeks to provide spaces for peace, recreation and emotional healing to affected communities.
