Last Monday, the Second International Congress on world imbalances, the urgencies of peace and development and the need for a New International Economic Order (NOEI) began, with the presence of intellectuals and former officials from different countries.
The inauguration of the event, which takes place at the headquarters of the National Capitol in Havana, was attended by the Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodríguez.
The former foreign minister of Ecuador, Guillaume Long, in statements for Telesur, said that more than 80 people from nearly 25 countries on all continents of the world are participating.
He indicated that at the forum there will be 13 panels to discuss from the perspective of the renewal of the NOEI, which was founded in 1974, “and which then, during the long and sad neoliberal night of the 80s and 90s, was abandoned.”
“There is a real opportunity for the Global South to reawaken, and to once again influence the world's rules of coexistence,” said the former Ecuadorian foreign minister.
