Second round of negotiations between Russia and the US begins in Türkiye

Istanbul, in Türkiye, is the venue for a second round of negotiations between Russia and the United States (USA), aimed at normalizing their relations and peace in Ukraine, at a time when Kiev ceded part of its mineral resources as compensation for the aid received by Washington in three years of conflict.

Talks between the delegations of both nations began at 10:00 (Istanbul time), according to the Russian Foreign Ministry.

Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov indicated that negotiators, high-ranking diplomats and experts from both nations will talk about the activation of embassies in Washington and Moscow, as agreed at the meeting held last week in Saudi Arabia.

During the first meeting, held in Riyadh, both delegations agreed to create a favorable climate for the full resumption of bilateral cooperation, to lift the barriers affecting the functioning of their embassies and to form a high-level working group to begin to resolve the Ukrainian crisis.
