Security forces arrest 10 people in La Guaira for looting properties affected by earthquakes

Members of the Immediate Response Brigade captured 10 citizens, including men and women, in the Caraballeda parish in the state of La Guaira, the Ministry of Popular Power for Internal Relations, Justice and Peace (MPPRIJP) reported on its Instagram account.

It points out that the police procedure was carried out when the group was trying to vandalize and loot properties that suffered structural damage from the earthquake of last June 24.

In a review of the Latest News portal, he points out that the secretary of Public Security of the coastal entity, Andrés Gonçalves, explained that most of the detainees come from Ca racas.

He pointed out that those involved took advantage of the state of vulnerability of the collapsed buildings to enter buildings and illegally steal valuables.

After the arrest in flagrante delicto by the public security commissions, the suspects were transferred to the central police command. The security force immediately referred the proceedings in the case and the corresponding file to the authorities of the Public Prosecutor's Office.

The deployment of preventive patrols by the government and special police brigades will be maintained permanently in the sectors affected by the earthquakes. These special surveillance days seek to ensure the protection of property belonging to families that are evicted.
