This Friday, the Constitutional Council of Senegal confirmed the victory in the presidential elections of the 44-year-old opposition candidate Bassirou Diomaye Faye, who will take office to replace Macky Sall, who ruled for 12 years.
According to information published by Al Jazeera, the path to the inauguration as the country's fifth president is expected to take place on April 2.
The West African nation's high court validated the interim results announced on Wednesday based on the vote count of 100 percent of polling stations.
Faye, an anti-system candidate and ally of the popular opposition figure Ousmane Sonko, won more than 54 percent of the votes cast in the postponed presidential elections last Sunday.
The Arab media highlighted that the candidate of the ruling coalition Amadou Ba, personally elected by the outgoing president Macky Sall, obtained about 35 percent of the votes.
