The Gran Caracas 2026 Americas Series officially entered the scene and its organizers confirmed the participation of Argentina, Panama, Curaçao, Cuba, Colombia, Nicaragua and Venezuela in the tournament that will be held from February 5 to 13 to strengthen sports integration in the region.
The president of the Baseball Association of the Americas (ABAM), David Salayandia, welcomed the new relationship with the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League, and hopes that it will be the beginning of good coordination for many events.
“The first edition of the Americas Series was held in Nicaragua, where a very ambitious project began that seeks the integration of the countries of the region through baseball. Now, Venezuela will make this second edition a reality and will show the world that baseball can unite countries,” he said.
Open participation
For his part, the Secretary General of ABAM, Ajax Delgado, stressed that the first objective will be to develop the Association of Baseball Leagues of the Americas with the participation of leagues from partner countries under the principle of inclusion and open participation.
“We are sure that our friends in the Venezuelan League will be extraordinary hosts, and with this format of play, all participating countries in America, as well as the streaming spectators, will enjoy the quality of Latin American baseball,” he added.
Total structure
The president of the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League and president of the event's organizing committee, Giuseppe Palmisano, stressed that Venezuela has the facilities and experience to organize this new international tournament.
“We are used to hosting large events, such as the Professional Caribbean Series and Kids, so we have the necessary infrastructure, such as the Monumental Simón Bolívar and Jorge Luis García Carneiro stadiums, to make this baseball party a resounding success,” he said.
Competition format
Regarding the visual identity of the tournament, the director of the Organizing Committee, Renny Bernal, specified that the logo of the Series of the Americas “has the most representative elements of Greater Caracas, such as macaws, Avila, Central Park and the sea, as well as a ribbon with the flag of the member countries of the Association”.
He added that the stadiums that will host the matches will be the Monumental Simón Bolívar de la Rinconada, with a capacity for 40,000 people, and the Jorge Luis García Carneiro stadium in Macuto, La Guaira, with a capacity for 14,300 fans.
