Sexagenario was sentenced to 26 years in prison for sexually abusing a teenager with disabilities

A 69-year-old man, identified as Eustoquio Rivas, was sentenced to 26 years and six months in prison for his responsibility in the sexual abuse of a 16-year-old adolescent with cognitive impairment.
According to a press release from the Public Ministry (MP), the incident was detected on January 26, 2023 in the Pedro Camejo sector, in the city of San Carlos, Cojedes state. During that day, the adolescent's mother went to the Cojedes State Police Autonomous Institute (IAPEC) to report that Rivas took advantage of her father leaving the house to call the young woman; to put her in one of the rooms of her house and abuse her.
According to the research, it was confirmed that the victim's maternal grandfather was the one who noticed physical changes and some alarm symptoms in the young woman, who has a cognitive disability. As a result, the teenager was taken to a medical facility.
After carrying out the corresponding tests, the doctors confirmed that she had signs of abuse; in addition to that she was in a state of pregnancy.
The day after the results were obtained, a police commission went to the sector where the victim resides; where Rivas was apprehended inside his home and placed under the command of the MP.
In the trial, the 6th Prosecutor's Office of Cojedes ratified the accusation against the sixty-year-old for the commission of aggravated sexual violence.
Once the tax office evacuated the evidence concerning the case, the Second Trial Court handed down the above-mentioned conviction against Rivas and ordered who will remain in detention in the IAPEC command.
