The president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, said that there is no point of comparison between the president of Honduras, Xiomara Castro, and the extreme right wing María Corina Machado, since the latter “is calling for foreign intervention” in Venezuela.

During a press conference, Sheinbaum highlighted that Castro denounced coup actions and an attempt at electoral fraud promoted by sectors of the right and supported by the United States, while, according to her, Machado promotes external measures that would have a direct impact on the Venezuelan population.

According to what was published on the Telesur web portal, the Head of State reiterated that Mexico maintains, by constitutional mandate and political conviction, a position contrary to interventionism and supports the self-determination of peoples. He stressed that his Government defends the right of each nation to decide its own destiny through democratic processes.

Sheinbaum also reported that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico is following the Honduran president's complaints about an ongoing electoral coup and a possible coup attempt. He added that Mexico maintains contact with Honduras through established diplomatic channels.
