This Tuesday, in connection with the commemoration of Freedom Day of the Republic of South Africa, the Deputy Minister for Africa, Yuri Pimentel, and Ambassador Lindiwe Michelle Maseko, presented a wreath before the sarcophagus guarding the mortal remains of the Liberator Simon Bolivar.

The protocol activity took place in the Mausoleum of the Liberator in the National Pantheon, and was attended by representatives of the Diplomatic Corps accredited in Caracas and officials of the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry.

The event began with the intonation of the national anthems of both countries, and then the authorities signed the book.

Freedom Day in South Africa is celebrated every April 27 to commemorate the first democratic and multiracial elections, held in 1994; a fact that marked the end of the apartheid regime and the consolidation of a democratic and egalitarian system.

Caracas and Pretoria signed diplomatic relations in December 1993, based on cooperation and respect; achieving the signing of agreements in areas such as: politics, diplomacy and economy.
