This Monday, ground and check-in personnel began an indefinite strike at 12 of Spain's main airports, a measure of force that coincides with the start of Holy Week. The protest seeks to push for wage improvements and the recognition of basic labor rights at a critical time for domestic air traffic.

The mobilization involves a total of 5,578 workers in nerve centers such as Madrid-Barajas, Barcelona-El Prat, Málaga, Palma de Mallorca and the Canary Islands and the Balearic archipelagos. The airports of Bilbao, Alicante, Valencia, Zaragoza and Seville are also added to the stoppages, affecting the connectivity of the country's main tourist regions.

To maximize the impact, the strike takes place intermittently in three key bands: from 5:00 to 7:00, from 11:00 to 17:00 and from 22:00 to 00:00. This stoppage scheme seeks to generate pressure at times of peak operational activity, making it difficult to check in and manage luggage throughout the day.

It is estimated that more than 1.34 million travelers will be directly affected by these stoppages. Given the risk of massive cancellations and delays, passengers are advised to check the status of their flights with airlines before going to the terminals and to go as far in advance as possible.
