This Thursday, January 16, the Special Commission for the Review of Electoral Laws of the National Assembly (AN) evaluated the proposals submitted by the country's political parties and organizations, to specify the dates, processes and scenarios of the 2025 elections.
At the meeting held in the Protocol Chamber, the coordinators of each panel presented the approaches taken, which range from the mechanisms that should govern future processes, such as respect for the peace of the country, and the form for running for elected office.
Deputy Nicolás Maduro Guerra, first vice-president of the legislative body, granted the right to speak to each of the delegates of the tables formed to debate the proposals according to the subject, which are legislative, technical and constitutional.
He said that these deliberations demonstrate that political dialogue prevails in the country.
The second vice-president of the commission, opposition deputy Luis Eduardo Martínez, indicated that they have received more than 100 proposals for dates, ranging from June to December, which include joint elections for mayors, governors, legislative and municipal councils, parliamentary, and constitutional reform.
For her part, the deputy Asia Villegas, proposed to respect gender parity, as established by law, with the fundamental objective of highlighting the role of women in the electoral process, to talk about candidates and candidates, or candidacies.
On the other hand, Deputy Pedro Carreño, mentioned that all processes must comply with the law, and those who have promoted unilateral coercive measures, and other punitive actions, cannot participate in the elections.
Deputy Carolina García, pointed out that Article 9 of the Libertador Simón Bolívar Organic Law establishes the conditions of ineligibility of those who aspire to run as candidates, for positions of popular election.
Among the ideas presented, is the appointment of a subcommittee for the proposal of the draft constitutional reform, which would accompany the National Commission for the Reform of the Constitution, created recently by the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro.
