Sports Ministry rejects new US aggression against the Homeland

In an official statement, the Ministry of Popular Power for Sports expressed the rejection of Venezuelan athletes regarding the new aggression of the United States Government against the country, following the manifesto of the US Head of State Donald Trump, about an alleged theft of natural resources and land by Venezuela from that country.

From his social networks, he explained that “the great family of Venezuelan sports, from our grassroots athletes to our sporting glories, unites in a single outcry to reject the recent threats against our sovereignty and integrity. We are a people of peace who have demonstrated their resilience and dignity at every podium in the world, and today we confirm that our greatest victory will always be the preservation of national independence.”

ANNOUNCEMENT

The sports sector of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, made up of athletes, coaches, leaders, leaders, glories, federations, associations, clubs and sports workers in all its expressions, addresses the Venezuelan people and the international community, strongly joining the rejection expressed by the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in the face of the recent threats made by Mr. Donald Trump against our sacred Homeland.

As an institution that promotes the values of brotherhood, solidarity and peace, we denounce this new escalation of aggressions that seeks, under colonialist and interventionist rhetoric, to undermine sovereignty over our natural resources and the right of our people to live in freedom.

We consider that:
Venezuelan sport, which has managed to bring the national tricolor to the top of the world podiums, is a reflection of the resilience and dignity of a people that does not give up to empires.
The pretensions to impose naval and military blockades are a flagrant violation of international law, which threatens not only the economy, but also the integral development of our young athletes.
Venezuela's wealth belongs solely and exclusively to Venezuelans, and no foreign threat can crush the unwavering spirit of a nation that recognizes itself as heir to the glory of Simon Bolivar.

From the great sports family, we confirm our absolute loyalty to the National Executive and declare ourselves in a popular, military and sports union to defend every inch of our territory. Sport is sovereignty, and our greatest victory will always be the preservation of peace and national independence.

As our Liberating Father put it: “Fortunately, a handful of free men have been seen defeating powerful empires.”
