Supreme Court ratifies constitutionality of the economic emergency decree

The Constitutional Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) issued decision No. 533, in which it declared the constitutionality of Decree No. 5,118, signed by the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, which establishes a State of Economic Emergency throughout the national territory for a period of sixty (60) days, as stipulated in article 339 of the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela (CRBV).

The request, submitted by the Head of State, was reviewed by the Constitutional Chamber, which concluded that the decree meets the parameters established in the Magna Carta to guarantee the country's economic and social stability in a context of significant challenges.

The main objective of Decree No. 5,118 is to implement extraordinary measures to address the current economic situation, in order to protect the fundamental rights of citizens and promote collective well-being.

The decision of the Supreme Court, as reported by Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), reaffirms the commitment of Venezuelan institutions to the defense of the Constitution and the search for solutions that contribute to the development and stability of the country.
