Suriname sent seven tons of humanitarian aid to Venezuela

The Government of the President of Suriname, Jennifer Geerlings-Simons, sent a plane carrying seven tons of food and personal hygiene items to Venezuela, as part of that country's support for those affected by the double earthquake of June 24.

 

The aid arrived on August 4 at Simón Bolívar International Airport in Maiquetía, where it was received by authorities of the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry. The ambassador of Suriname to Venezuela, Georgette García Elías, also arrived on board the flight.

Later, Foreign Minister Félix Plasencia González received the ambassador, to whom he conveyed the thanks of the Venezuelan Government and the president in charge Delcy Rodríguez. The meeting, accompanied by the Deputy Minister for the Caribbean, Raúl Li Causi, also addressed issues of bilateral cooperation.

 

This donation reaffirms the historic bonds of friendship and solidarity between Suriname and Venezuela, as well as the commitment of both countries to mutual cooperation.
