Venezuelan swordsman Clarismar Farías won the bronze medal in the Satellite Tournament held in Barcelona, Spain.
Farías advanced to the table of 64 by bye, and beat Canadian Kirsten Van Marion by 15 to 8 touches, then in the table of 32 participants he eliminated his compatriot Eliana Lugo with 15 to 12, and repeated the victory against the Spanish Alejandra Rodríguez by 15 to 11.
In the round of 16, Farías showed his power against Bulgarian Mihaela Stefanova by a close 10 to 9 touches, thus obtaining his way to the semifinals, where he gave 15 to 10 against Kenyan Alexandra Ndolo, and won the bronze one.
For her part, Lizze Asis advanced to the 54 table and in this instance she faced the Venezuelan Lugo, who beat her by a close 11-10.
The Pan-American champion Victoria Guerrero dominated the host swordsmen by beating Irene Daswani 15-5 on the 128 table, 15-8 against Julia Rueda, and 11-10 Alicia Torrego, and then stumbled in the table of 16 15-12 against the Ivorian Oceane Tahe.
Meanwhile, in the men's sword, Rubén Limardo advanced by bye to the 128 table in which he beat the Spaniard Oriol Espi 15-8, repeated 15-7 against the Finnish Akseli Heinamaa and then dominated the Argentinian Jesús Lugones again 15-7.
In the round of 32, he faced his younger brother Jesús, whom he eliminated from the contest 15-9, and then gave up 15-6 to the Portuguese Miguel Frazao.
In turn, Francisco Limardo also ended his participation in the 16-16 table after falling 15-11 to the Estonian Oliver Laasik.
