The recently
ratified president of the National Assembly (AN), Jorge Rodríguez, swore in
this Monday, January 5, the deputies elected in the last legislative
elections for the period 2026-2031.
From the
Federal Legislative Palace, in Caracas, where he had previously installed Parliament for the new constitutional
term, Rodríguez invited legislators to raise their hands “in the face of the immortal example of
the Liberator of America Simon Bolivar”.
“Do you swear to comply with and enforce the Constitution and
the laws of the Republic? Do you swear to fulfill the controlling functions of the National Assembly
of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the other
responsibilities designated by the Constitution, especially with
regard to the control and selection of the other organs of the Venezuelan public power?”
, he asked.
He continued the oath urging parliamentarians to be guarantors of Venezuela
's democratic institutions. “Do they swear to protect the sacred
territory of our homeland, its sacred soil, its seas and rivers? Do they swear? If they do
so, may God and the Fatherland reward them. Otherwise, they
demand it from you. They are formally invested and invested as deputies,” she said.
