This Thursday, the Foreign Minister of the de facto government of Syria, Asaad Al-Shibani, confirmed that they are open for business and plans to privatize state ports and factories, as part of the economic reform program.

The presence at the Davos Forum of the government, led by a former member of the Al-Qaeda organization and who came to power at the head of an armed Islamic group, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, was unprecedented.

In this context, the Foreign Minister was received by world heads of state with the main economic powers for the first time after years of sanctions and isolation perpetrated by the West against the Government of Al-Assad.

“Since this summit, Al-Shibani emphasized that “the vision of the previous president was that of a security State model, while the new approach is oriented towards economic development,” he said, while stressing the importance of establishing a clear legal framework to attract foreign investors and encourage Syrian businessmen to return to the country.
