Venezuelan taekwondo player Luis Álvarez won the bronze medal in the -87 kg category, after falling 0-2 to Canadian Jordan Stewart in the semifinals of the Pan American Championship of the specialty, which took place at the Arena Carioca in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The gold medal went to the North American Isaiah Young, while the silver went to the Canadian Stewarty Jordan and the second bronze to Brazil.

On his way to the podium, the Venezuelan beat Brazilian Edu Luiz 2-0 in his first contest. Later, he repeated the dose (2-0) against Costa Rican Gabriel González to enter the semifinals.

The Poomsae modality was represented in Venezuela with the gold medalist of the IV South American Youth Games, Nancy Haidar, who gave up in the round of 16, finally placing seventh in the competition.

In the same way, Aaron Bolívar ranked seventh in the men's tournament after falling in the round of 16 to the representative of Mexico.

In addition, the duo closed their participation in the Pan-American event, ranking sixth in the category of mixed couples.
