The deputy to the National Assembly, Tania Díaz, stressed that the events of April 12 and 13 are a popular epic in Venezuela, after the People and the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) defeated in civic-military union the coup d'etat that right-wing and business sectors gave to Commander Hugo Chávez.

“They put a coup against the government of Supreme Commander Hugo Chávez and well the President was kidnapped, taken out of the Miraflores Palace and spent 47 hours outside the Miraflores Palace, what happened after the 11th on the 12th and the 13th is a popular epic in Venezuela,” he said.

In this regard, during the program Sin Truco Ni Maña, he specified that revolutionaries such as Earle Herrera, Iris Varela, Diosdado Cabello, among others, played “a leading role in the popular mobilization at that time”.

“The loyalty and courage of these men and of all the people of Venezuela reversed that situation in 47 hours,” he said, recalling the events of the April 11, 2002 coup.

He recalled that some of the actions that led the right wing to carry out a coup d'etat against Commander Chávez, who since coming to the presidency promoted laws and policies in favor of the People and not the elites that this political sector represented.
