This Tuesday, July 30, the Attorney General
of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, reported that so far 749 citizens have been
arrested and are being prosecuted by the Public Ministry (MP) for acts of violence in
different states of the country.
In this regard, during the press conference
from the MP, he explained that all those arrested for
violent acts were charged with crimes such as: public incitement, obstruction of public
roads, incitement to hatred, resistance to authority and in the
most serious cases, terrorism, and they will be ordered to be imprisoned.
He explained that among the vandalism acts
are: the burning of the headquarters of the National Electoral Council (CNE) in Coro, Falcón
state; burning of the headquarters of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) and destruction of the monument in honor of Dr. José Gregorio Hernández in the state
of Anzoátegui; the destruction and desecration of the monument of the Coromoto Indian; the
destruction of the representative
of Commander Hugo Chávez in Mariara, Carabobo state; attack on
the facilities of the Car Hospital; destruction of the Bolivarian National
Police (PNB) checkpoint in El Calvario and the destruction of the Mayor's Office of the Sotillo Municipality and the headquarters of
the CNE in Barcelona, among others.
He also specified that in this series of violent
acts he also left the result of a deceased member of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces and that 48 officials
, including the military and police, were unfortunately injured. At the same time, he criticized that these violent groups
wanted to republish the case of Orlando Figuera, when they attacked a citizen who
appeared to be a Chavista in the vicinity of Plaza O'Leary.
In the same way, he condemned the
media channels and social media accounts that are giving
propaganda to these criminals. “They broadcast these
terrorist demonstrations live,” he said, dismissing those who try to position these acts as
“peaceful demonstrations,” he said.
He reaffirmed that unlike other years
when they tried to impose violence, this time there will be no impunity. “That's
when there was the corrupt former prosecutor who favored that coup attempt.
Here is a Public Ministry that defends peace and democracy (...)
we are active to act immediately,” he said.
