The Movement of Bolivarian Teachers and Teachers gathered this Tuesday in Francisco Miranda Square in Tumremo, the administrative capital of the Guayana Esequiba state, under one premise: there will be no comprehensive improvement in the economic conditions of the education sector as long as the unilateral coercive measures of the United States against Venezuela persist.

During the mobilization, educators pointed out that the lifting of the financial blockade is an urgent need to reactivate contractual benefits and the stability of the union.

With the slogan “no sanctions, more economic income and welfare”, the spokespersons explained that “external economic suffocation” is the main obstacle for the State to invest resources in recovering the purchasing power of education workers.

During the rally, according to a press release, it was reported that the blockade not only affects school infrastructure and technology, but also undermines the stability of the homes of those who have the responsibility to train future generations.

For the teachers mobilized in this territory, teaching work is intrinsically linked to national sovereignty. In this regard, they affirmed that, although the blockade has diminished material resources, “it has not been able to take away the conscience, ethics or unwavering commitment of educators.”

The day concluded with a call to the international community and political sectors to cease economic aggression, understanding that financial freedom in Venezuela is the fundamental step in restoring material dignity to the education sector and strengthening the education system in the new state of Guayana Esequiba.
